Description of Iridium- Rhodium Alloy

With the features of high melting point (2443℃) and the highest room temperature elastic modulus (570GPa) as one of the most corrosion-resistant elements at high temperatures, the iridium has an excellent prospect in the application of high temperature field. However, due to the shortcomings of low rigidity, serious oxidation and volatilization at high temperature as well as poor plasticity, it shall be alloyed to solve the aforesaid problems in applications at high temperature. The iridium alloy has good durability at high temperature, which can greatly reduce the losses resulting from oxidation and volatilization. Meanwhile, it also has excellent performance of oxidation resistance and electric ablation at high temperature as well as long service life. 


It’s widely used in multiple fields such as auto spark plugs, gas engine (electric) engines, power generation devices with exhaust and coal-bed methane in oil and gas field, electric vacuum gauges, high-temperature oxidation-resistant thermocouples, wire welding machines.
